Garment Testing
The Quality, Performance and Regulatory compliance of fabrics and garments is crucial, and is increasingly demanded by consumers and customers alike.
Abacus Careerwear is committed to achieving consistency in product quality, and we have a Quality Policy which explains our guiding principles.
We use Garment testing facilities to increase our understanding of fabric & garment performance, particularly before recommending new fabrics to our customers.
Garments (sold in both the Retail and Corporate Wear industries) are often tested to ensure that they:
- Are fit for their Purpose
- Conform to relevant Performance specifications
- Meet all relevant Product Legislation
Garment Testing evaluates the following:
- Mechanical properties e.g. strength, and resistance to abrasion
- Dimensions properties and changes
- Appearance properties e.g. pilling and snag resistance, colour fastness
- Heat & moisture properties
- Water resistance properties
- Flammability especially for protective clothing
- Comfort and Performance of garments in different simulated conditions e.g. heat & humidity
Care Labeling Testing is used to evaluate the performance of fabrics during laundering, and the effectiveness of different types of washes.
Care Labeling Testing evaluates the following:
- Durability
- Laundering or Dry Cleaning
- Dimensional Change/Shrinkage
- Colorfastness
- Stain Resistance
- Appearance
- Oil Repellency
- Absorbency
Garment Testing is an important part of ensuring ongoing product quality, and also an important way of evaluating the performance of new fabrics and garments.
